The Mangrove-Region or Mangrovia is an important eco-region in the archipelago. Located in the center of the continent, it's overgrown with thick mangrove forests and endemic sea trees that span oceanic distances.
The area is mostly populated by the different Ribangese cultures and some related sea nomads. Different than the west, Mangrovia contains many aquatic arthropods, like sea scorpions.
Below is a political map of the era:
Sea scorpions are semi-aquatic arthropods that live in the Mangrove-Region of the archipelago. Some species are also found on and around the Jungle Isles. They often live near mangrove forests for food and shelter. There exists an abundance of different species that have specialized to fit their correspondant environment throughout Mangrovia. For example, some live in the rivers of the continents, some mostly on land and others only in the sea. Additionally, their size can vary quite a bit: from huge human-sized giants to small critter-sized bugs.
The sea scorpions play a significant role in the culture of the Ribangese people. Traditionally, these arthropods are kept or hunted for their chitin and poison. In the Ávabuz religion, some fallen gods resemble these animals. Certain species are therefore a delicacy for the nobility.
