Talsek is the southernmost subcontinent of Mismia. Here, only beastmen cultures can be found. A large jungle dominates its terrain, which can be described as a mixture of Southamerican and African jungle.
The Great Jungle
The Great Jungle is located on the third subcontinent. It is characterized by an immense tropical rainforest, which also has cloud and mist forests in the south. Many caves adorn the mountainous region in the east, which has savannah-like tendencies. Many waterfalls can also be found, especially on the Newt Plateau.
In general, the jungle is characterized by many bioluminescent plants. There are many parasites, poisonous creatures and dangerous carnivores. The soil is rather poor for agriculture and the water is unsafe for drinking. The unique ecosystem, however, has many useful and exotic plants and furs that are traded by the native beastmen.
The southern plateau, has magnificent cave systems and a large lake in the east. Here lies the origin of the Kuts beliefs. Several ruins of an ancient civilization can also be found, especially in the eastern part by the river.
Due to the thick jungle, many cultures and ethnic groups of the subcontinent are geographically isolated. Except for rare contact with foreign traders, most live according to a hunter-gatherer principle. Nevertheless, complex civilizations also exist in some more fertile regions, such as the Kuts Theocracy and the Horn Confederacy.
River System
The river system of the Great Jungle consists of a large river with several tributaries. It originates from the large lake on the Newt Plateau and flows through most of the jungle. It is home to many exotic animals such as piranhas, dolphins and aquatic snakes. As a wide waterway, it serves as a road for the inhabitants of Talsek since it can be navigated by boats.
Newt Plateau
The Newt Plateau is located in the southern part of the Great Jungle on the continent of Mismia. It is a rather mountainous region that nevertheless contains tropical rainforests. Not only are mountains the norm, the whole region is essentially an elevation from sea level - a very humid habitat. The plateau is home to the largest lakes on the continent. They serve as central sites of the southern subcontinent's civilization. Various amphibious beastmen cultures and tribes live in the Newt Plateau. Three of the seven organized states of the subcontinent are located here. Many tepuis can be found in the Newt Plateau, as well as cloud and mist forests. Waterfalls are also common.
